The Karen Mayne Pre-Apprenticeship Program prepares women to pursue careers in the skilled trades. But the classroom is only part of the journey. Having someone who understands the trades, has been through the challenges, and can offer encouragement along the way can make a lasting difference.
We’re looking for tradeswomen who are willing to share their experience, offer guidance, and support a KMPP graduate as she takes her next step into the trades.

Who Can Be a Mentor?
We’re looking for tradeswomen who are willing to share their experience and support someone who is beginning their career in the skilled trades.
You don’t have to have all the answers. You don’t have to be in the same trade as your mentee. You simply need to be willing to listen, share what you’ve learned, and be a positive resource for another woman entering the trades.
What Does Mentorship Look Like?
Mentorship doesn’t have to be complicated. It could be a quick text when your mentee has a question, a phone call to talk through a challenge, checking in after a first day on the job, or sharing advice you’ve learned through your own experience.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach. The goal is to build a supportive connection that works for both the mentor and mentee.
